Monstress Book Tour in Manila

Heya dearies! Do you like comics? For me, I started reading thanks to comics. I can vividly remember Archie, Betty and Veronica, and other Riverdale characters in my youth. Back then, if you have an Archie Double Digest, you were popular in school. Oh! I loved Richie Rich, too! 😃

Comics taught me the love for reading. Rich, colorful pages filled my youth. It is still true for now. I may have moved on to reading novels but once in a while, I still go back to my first love. Archie, Avatar the Last Airbender, and manga like Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan are just a few of what I usually read.

So, I really got excited when Fully Booked organized an event with comic book writer, Marjorie Liu. One of my 2019 goals was to go to a book signing event. It clicked right there! I decided to attend on February 10 in Fully Booked ATC. It was the third day, and I’m happy that they have that slot because it’s my only free time of the week.

I arrived at the location early because I expected a lot of people due to my previous book signing experience with Lang Leav back in 2016. But no, the crowd was manageable and the event was a cozy meet and greet.

The venue at Fully Booked was very apt. I felt comfortable being surrounded by books. Other comics written by Marjorie Liu were on display, too! Han Solo. X-Men, Monstress... It was eye candy!

More comics! :D

It was my first time hearing of Monstress. When
I saw it, the covers called out to me. Power. Pain. Monsters. People. Magic. Mystery. It was enough to convince me to buy the first volume. Gorgeous art encompasses the covers, showing the main character as a beautiful and strong heroine.

Marjorie Liu is an empowering woman. Her aura is welcoming. She’s very kind and beautiful. We had a chance to get to know her more at the Q&A part. She shared with us tips on becoming a writer and taught us the necessary attitude of being one.

After the Q&A was the book signing and photo op. I got to meet her up close. She smiled and shook my hand. I told her that I read comics and I’m excited to read Monstress. She talked with me as she signed my copy. And then we posed for a quick photo to remember this chance of a lifetime! 😃

I love how personalized this autograph is! :)

Marjorie’s talk inspired us to follow our dreams. To appreciate art and support comic book writers and artists. I’m happy that I decided to attend. It turned out more than just a book signing event, it became a life-changing one for me. Marjorie Liu has made an me instant fan and I look forward to more of her works, especially Monstress.

Presenting The Starbucks 2014 Planner

There are a lot of 2014 planners available out there. For this post, let me share with you the 2014 Starbucks Planner. Every December, people are talking about it! The cover and the layouts are something to look forward to, as well. For this year, it came in four colors: yellow, magenta, brown, and black. The black one is the Philippine edition ( hmmm, tempting! ). I'm very much impressed because the cover feels like leather.  I will feature the magenta one. My friend owns this. I already have a planner for 2014, owning another doesn't make sense at all. Hehehe ~ So, I decided to take some photos of it and share what's inside. (^_^) Left: the box, Right: the planner.  The cover is embossed with coffee icons and Starbucks coffee blend logos. I noticed the symbol for their coffee Sumatra and the elephant icon for Kenya. The 2014 Starbucks Planner in magenta I saw the symbol of the Starbucks coffee blend Sumatra embossed on it. Here is a really cute featur

My Chouhou Gundam

I am so excited to write about the latest addition to my Gundam collection!  This time, I got it from the Gundam Caravan Booth last Best of Anime 2012 ! It was a fun-filled event full of cosplayers and various booths !  This time, we were given the Chouhou Gundam to setup. Uhm, I'm not sure if there is another name for this Gundam. However, the Katakana characters read as "Chouhou", so let me stick with that.  The box of Chouhou Gundam. Hey! This one is new! Other than the manual for setting up, there is also comics inside the box. Wow! It is great as I will get to know more about this Gundam! But time was of the essence, so I decided to move on with building and detailing and set aside reading for later. Comics inside the Chouhou Gundam box. So let us start with the steps in setting up. Here are the photos: We start off with the feet Then the head was next. Putting stickers on is hard, you know. Of course, we need the torso to connect the

Proud to be a Bella

May 21 2011 had been added to my list of memorable days thanks to the girls of Belle de Jour Power Planner. That special day was the BDJ Girls' Rendevous for the month of May. The theme was I Dream, therefore I can.  It was one of the biggest event to date. Almost 100 slots were available to be filled. The invitation to the event was given through various contests. I got my slot in this event through the Belle de Jour Facebook Fan Page. They posted a question at exactly 2:54 PM of May 5, 2011. They posted a question as their status which was: Question, Bellas:   How do you unwind/relax when you're stressed from school or work?   The first 25 BDJ Girls who will comment on THIS THREAD will get a slot at the BDJ Rendezvous: I Dream Therefore I Can! : ) When I saw that post, I immediately wrote "I watch my favorite teleserye." Woah! Believe it or not, I got the lucky 25th slot. Weee! The Rendevous was held in Ace Water Spa in Ortigas. I thought that swimming wi
