Bookish Dreams at The King and Queen Tour

Best Blogger Tips
As seen on my Instagram, you would know that I love to read YA books. The fantasy world is just amazing and I find it awesome how authors conjure up different worlds from their imagination.

The author Cassandra Clare is quite renowned in #bookstagram. Her popularity influenced me to read her books. A year ago, I saw a copy of Clockwork Prince on sale in National Bookstore and bought it. That book now has a sentimental value to me because it’s my first Cassandra Clare book!

That’s how I’ve come to love The Infernal Devices series. Ah! Will Herondale! Jem Carstairs! Swoon-worthy, yes! When I finished reading the series, I secretly wished in my heart to meet Cassandra Clare someday!

I knew from social media that there will be a book signing tour of Cassandra Clare and Holly Black. But I didn’t expect it to be so soon! The book signing events have been coming in fast lately, with Monstress and Love Looks Pretty on You a few weeks apart. My 2019 bookish year started out amazing and I feel so blessed! And now, I’m writing about The King and Queen Tour.  😊

It was on the day of March 10 that I went to SM Megamall early and lined up outside. It was the easiest queue for me because I didn’t have to wait for a long time. The registration started just a few minutes later. Yay!

It's not just another stage! It's THE stage for The King and Queen Tour.

A lot of people were there! I saw some bookstagrammers but I was too shy to approach them. HeheheThere were cosplayers, too! πŸ˜ƒ I think this is the first time in a book signing that I saw cosplayers!

Snow as Magnus Bane
Books written by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare were available for purchase, too. 😍

Cassandra Clare bookish paradise! :)

Gorgeous books by Holly Black on display.

When the event started, fans screamed with excitement as the two authors took their seats on stage. They introduced themselves and talked about how they met. It was because of books, yes! Then, they let the fans ask them questions about anything.

Holly Black and Cassandra Clare greeting their fans.

Seeing them exchange hilarious answers made us laugh. They are truly BFFs. It’s like they know what the other is thinking. It’s fun seeing them like that, showing us the power of true friendship. And the topics were about their books! My own kind of genre! It was very interesting to listen to. Shadowhunters... Magnus Chase... Jude... It’s very fun to converse when you know the topics at hand. And it just kept getting better when the juicy bookish scoops came from the authors themselves! I found myself just drawn to the conversation that I lost track of time.

Can't help but take a lot of photos! Especially with Cassie's big smile! :)

And they gave us writing tips. Holly Black said that she sometimes doesn’t follow a timeline, but Cassie Clare does. So it’s all about flexibility but staying true to the plot in the end. It's one of the writing advice that I will hold in my heart.

And when the moment of book signing came, I couldn’t help but feel ecstatic and nervous!

Look at this large crowd of bookworms! :)
Meeting them in person was so surreal! I was speechless that I almost forgot to take a photo with Holly Black. She has sparkling eyes, a mirror of joy that is so contagious!

Holly Black's joy is contagious.
And Cassie is a very kind person! I didn't get the chance to tell her my what’s in my heart but having to get a photo with her is a great joy to me! Plus, she signed my copy of Clockwork Prince, my first Cassie Clare book! Now that book is all the more special to me. Yay! πŸ˜ƒ

These two! Mirror images of each other. It was a lot of fun listening to them. We had a cozy conversation with their hilarious moments. I’m still trembling and I can’t believe I met them! ✍🏻 When Holly Black @blackholly asked me, “How are you today?”. I got speechless, my vocabularies all gone. πŸ˜‚ I took a deep breath to compose myself. She was so sweet and perky. I told her about Red Glove, how it was my first signed book ever bought. And how I’m excited to read it but it’s in my overwhelming TBR. Something we both laughed at. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ ✍🏻 Oh with Cassandra Clare @cassieclare1 , the queue was getting long and we only had a chance for a picture. I was not able to talk to her. I wanted to tell her that I loooove Jem Carstairs. I’m thankful that she created such a character with a good and kind heart. I wanted to tell her Jem’s words that I can never forget, “Ni hen piao liang.” Because I see a beautiful soul in her. I hope she will be able to read this. πŸ™ˆπŸ₯°❤️ ✍🏻 Thank you, @nationalbookstore ❤️πŸ₯°πŸ“š ✍🏻 #cassiexhollyinph #cassandraclare #hollyblack #thewickedking #clockworkprince #theinfernaldevices #book #booksigning #nbsevents

I feel grateful to Cassandra Clare, Holly Black, National Bookstore, and to all the people who were involved in this wonderful event. My heart is overwhelmed with happiness and joy! This event made me believe in dreams again... and the fact that sometimes, dreams just effortlessly come to you because you wished for it.

Love Looks Pretty on You With Lang Leav

Best Blogger Tips
Back in 2016, I failed to get a slot for Lang Leav’s Sad Girls Tour. It was supposed to be the first book signing event that I would go to. I didn’t know what to expect and I arrived at the venue too late. I was disappointed because I waited weeks for it. And I failed. So, when National Bookstore announced that they’d be bringing Lang Leav back, hope filled my heart. It’s my second chance to see her and get a book signed!
At the date of release, I went to buy her new book right away. It has a very apt title, “Love Looks Pretty on You”. The exclusive NBS edition is so cute with its pink edges. It’s so adorable to look at.
I read it a few days later. And what a beautiful book it is! Poetry touches the heart in a very profound way. Lang Leav shares her experiences and encourages other women to be strong and to accept themselves. I am particularly drawn to this book. It has a lot of happy poems, especially the one entitled “Love Looks Pretty on You”. No wonder they chose that to be the title of the book!

Then came February 24! Of course, I learned my lesson from 2 years ago and I went to Alabang Town Center waaaaay earlier than its opening hours. I found the loooong line and queued up for two hours. Yep. Two hours. πŸ˜‚ And the early bird catches the worm... or in this case, a book signing slot! Yay! πŸ˜ƒ
My book and slot stub!
The ATC Activity Center was packed! There was excitement and anticipation in the air. Also, copies of Lang Leav’s books were on display, too. Sigh, if only multiple books were allowed, I could’ve bought more. Hihihi~ πŸ˜‚

...and other books by Lang Leav. :D

The crowd erupted with cheers and applause when Lang Leav arrived! Even I couldn't contain my excitement.

Lang shared a moment with us and talked about her new book. She also told us about her life experiences for the last ten years as an author. What really struck me the most was her advice on doing your work with integrity. Though honesty brings about the longer and harder way... in the end, you’ll get to where success is. “In the end, you’ll always find your way,” she said. And I think, it’s more rewarding to bask in success when you know you earned it with integrity and without hurting other people.

And lastly, the moment we’ve all been waiting for! The chance to get my copy of Love Looks Pretty on You signed! During my turn, I told her that I’m glad that she wrote it. I like the book because it has a happy theme. And she told me how delighted she is in hearing that. Wheeee~ Aaaand yes, a posed photo with her! πŸ˜ƒ
A dream that waited two years! Finally!

Lang Leav is as beautiful as her poetry! She’s so kind and gentle. And looking at her makes me feel so calm. If ever there will be another of her book signings next time, I’ll surely be there to listen to her and to see her again. What about you? Have you read Lang Leav’s books?

The Phantom of the Opera is Enchanting!

Best Blogger Tips
It’s been a week and I’m still not over the feels of The Phantom of the Opera! The music plays endlessly in my head. Would you believe that I’m currently listening to its soundtrack in Spotify while writing this? Hahaha! πŸ˜‚πŸŽΆπŸŽ

It’s been two years since I went to watch the theater, with Wicked back in 2017. When I found out that The Phantom of the Opera is coming back here in Manila, I decided to go without a speck of doubt. I invited my family along. My aunt loved the movie, and for sure, she would love the theater even more!

And just like that, we bought tickets right away! Together we went to The Theater at Solaire last March 7 for the evening show. The whole place was all about POTO feels!

Hi guys! I'm beside the POTO poster

....and also by the entrance!

Me and my family at the mirrors photo booth.

Woah! That sculpture will put you further in the feels~

Of course, the mask has a food version, too!

Nearing 8PM, we were called to go inside for the show was about to start! πŸ˜ƒ Excitement filled my heart because entering the theater is like going into a new world.

Something wonderful is going to happen on that stage!

Excited for Phantom!

And when the lights came off, the show completely consumed my attention. Sorry guys, taking photos of the scenes is not allowed. But I tell you, the show will blow your mind!

The first scene with the chandelier, with all its captivating lights and movements, literally gave me a jaw dropping experience. Literally, yes. I knew it would be good, but it exceeded my expectations. Makes me wonder how they did that. 😲

The main cast, Jonathan Roxmouth (Phantom), Clara Verdier (Christine Daae), and Matt Leisy (Raoul Vicomte de Chagny) were impeccable in their acting. Their singing are all enchanting! I got goosebumps at every scene, the voices of all the main and supporting actors… and the harmony of the orchestra! The sets, costumes, the props! Everything was well done and well coordinated.

And here’s the thing, I have watched the movie a lot of times. But it was the theater that gave depth to the experience. I already knew the ending, but it didn’t stop me from getting emotional, too. 😭 Overall, the performance was spellbinding! The thunderous applause of the audience was proof! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Bravo to the cast!

And if at the end, you too, would be mesmerized by the show, you can check out the souvenir shops for these gorgeous finds! I personally love the Phantom bear. Cutieee~

Those Phantom bears! :D

Trinkets mugs, aaaand masks

Shirts and hoodies, too!

Woah! Pins and more souvenirs!

I have been smitten by the Phantom. The Angel of Music has entranced me! I left the theater with The Phantom of the Opera singing in my head...

🎢 “And in this labyrinth,
Where night is blind,
The Phantom of the Opera is there,
Inside your mind.” 🎼🎀🎭
