Running with Heroes

Best Blogger Tips
The nerdy Angel Mariel never thought that she could run a distance without running out of breath. But the right motivation finally came when the ‘World of DC All Star Fun Run’ was announced. When I first heard the news, I wanted to sign up because, hey, it's DC Comics! However, I doubted because there's no way I could run. I tried to sign up for a fun run before, but the circumstances didn't allow me to push through with it. I'm not fit enough. I'm not sporty enough.

It all changed when my wonderful colleagues at work proposed that all of us in the office would join a fun run on June. Well, they're all fit and they encouraged me to download an app and train for a 5k run.

I stayed true to the training program and on April 18, it required me to run for two miles. Great! The World of DC All Star Fun Run had a 3k category, which is equivalent to 1.8 miles. That made me finalize my decision to register for the event! Yay!

I chose the Batman racing kit. It came with a jersey with a bat logo and a batman mask. The Caped Crusader is my favorite superhero of all. He doesn't need mutations or alien powers to be somebody. All he needs is super high intelligence and a stellar bank account to boot. Hahaha

The Batman mask, part of the race kit
So on the early morn of April 18, I went to SM by the Bay to join my first ever fun run. I never thought that the place would be decorated with superhero standees. A stage was at the center too. It was like attending a product launch at a mall. It is similar to the many events I went to. You know it because I share about it here in my blog. (^_^). So for a change, I'm happy to write about the first fun run that I participated.

Ever wonder what Wonder Woman would be like on sunrise? Gorgeous!
The place had a lot of happenings!

The event stage

The Manila Bay at sunrise was a sight to behold and donning that gray jersey and bat mask was a dream come true for me. Yeah, if only I were Batman. (^_^)

Me on full gear! Perfect serene bay as background..
There were numerous food and game booths lined up as well! I smelled freebies at the sight of 'em! Yes!

The game booths...

Shooting arrows like Arrow

The Gotham booth had puzzles for everyone.

Of course there's a photobooth, too.

7-Eleven giving out Slurpees!

Free jellies from Jellyace! Now this was very good! (^_^)

My favorite was the trampoline booth where you would get a photo as you jump in the air! Here's mine:

Fly like Batman!
Before 6:00AM, 3k runners gathered at the starting line. I just had to have photos first. I knew that I won't be able to take pics once I hit the road. I hope somebody got a photo of me running, though. *Fingers crossed*

All of us, 3k runners, at the starting line
At exactly 6:00AM, the starting shot was fired and we started running! Wheee~ Though for me, it was more walking than running. Hahaha~ The good news is that I didn't hyperventilate anymore. So the training must've worked on me. I finished the run at approximately 30 minutes. Yay!

After the finish line was the Pocari Sweat booth. They gave out free bottles for runners! Sweet! These freebies make me want to run more!

Lining up for free drinks!

Le'z drink y'all!
I found this experience really fascinating. I used to think that running or any other sport was an impossible feat for me. And look, I was given a medal for it! Yay! What an achievement! I love what's written on the medal: I ran with the world's greatest heroes.

Yay! I got a medal!

Oh, but before I leave, here is my favorite photo...  You guessed it! It just got to be Batman!

Batman out in the sun

I guess the nerdy Angel Mariel has a place for sports, after all. Now, me and my fabulous pink kicks are off to train for the 5k run on June. See ya!

Pink shoes!

I'm Thirsty

Best Blogger Tips
One thing I miss whenever I go to the province is the sweet fruit salad from Thirsty. There are branches in Bacolod and Cebu. Actually, I have been looking for a branch here in the metro, but unfortunately, there's none that I found. (T_T) Oh why?

I have been addicted to their signature fruit salad since college days. This year, during my short vacation, I saw to it that I can have a cup of this delightful dish in SM Bacolod. The kiosk is at the heart of the food court, so you can't miss it!

Take a look at the attractive fruit display they have! And all that is going to be put in the salad! You will surely drool as the staff prepares your order.

The fruit stand in Thirsty. Love the watermelon bowls. (^_^)
Here is my fruit salad for the day. Delicious watermelon, melon, mandarin oranges, pineapple, coconut, lychee, mango, and corn swimming in creamy milk. Perfect for a sweet tooth like me. What a beautiful and chaotic delight of colors! Wheee~

My fresh fruit salad. Yippee!

There's this thing about fruits, they just blend in with each other, naturally. But as I took a bite, the aftertaste of the fruit remains and the milk sauce enhances the sweetness. Melon still tastes like melon and sour mango becomes saccharine because of the sauce.

I haven't eaten a Fruit Salad that has beaten Thirsty. It's so simple, yet so unforgettable. Anyone can make it at home but what makes this very distinct is the recipe of the milky sauce. It what completes the dish and makes me thirsty all the more for it.

I sure do hope I can find a branch near my place soon! (^_^)

Those Lovely Drinks

Best Blogger Tips
EA strikes again! Or well, I strike again. Hahaha~ Anyway, I remember my The Sims 3 rant a while back. Honestly, I still play the game on our PC at home. It's the game for me, unfortunately. I get the most enjoyment (and stress because of all the bugs) whenever I play it.

My sister installed the Late Night expansion pack for The Sims 3. I like open world and I won't let it go (Sorry, Sims 4). The city lifestyle, high rise buildings, bars, celebrity status, and vampires! In fact, I made one vampire sim and made her go to parties a lot! Her lifetime wish is similar to one of my wishes: to be a Blog Artist.

My vampire sim. Laverne. She is actually sweet and kind.
So my vampire sim, Laverne, got an opportunity (or mission/quest) to go to a bar named Banzai Lounge and order a drink. However, there is glitch that the bartender/mixologist leaves the bar the moment my sim enters it. And the moment she leaves, the mixologist returns to tend the bar. Whaaaat? How is she supposed to complete the quest, now?

It's just so frustrating that I wanted to go to a cocktail bar for real! And you know, the drinks they serve in The Sims 3 bars were so creatively named. The glasses and the colors look good, as well. My favorite sim drink is the "Sorrow Annihilator". Now, if only that exists in real life. That could’ve helped me ease my distress with The Sims. Hahaha~

Ironically, I guess I have to thank EA for giving me the chance to appreciate the crafts and creativity that is in cocktails! (^_^) Hmmm... at least the mixologist tending the bar doesn't go away when I enter the place.

So now, dearies, alongside coffee, yogurt, cakes, and ice cream, you will now see cocktails on the pages of "The Things I Do for Love". I already visited a cocktail bar earlier today and I'm excited to share it with you. But this post is getting quite long so I will tell you more about it in detail next time.

Meanwhile, here are the photos of my lovely drinks...

Cosmoplitan, as posted in my Instagram.

I ordered not just one...

So drink up! Real life's better than the simulated one!
