It's St. Michael's Feast Day

Best Blogger Tips
September 29. It's my Angel's Feast Day! I'm honoring him today by dedicating this post. It's been a long time since I wrote about him. St. Michael is the reason why I started this blog. Now, after four years of blogging, I don't know if he will be proud of me. My posts have become too random and materialistic. Looks like I would have to strike a balance in the topics that I write.

Whenever I pray:
Sáncte Míchael Archángele, defénde nos in proélio, cóntra nequítiam et insídias diáboli ésto præsídium. Ímperet ílli Déus, súpplices deprecámur: tuque, prínceps milítiæ cæléstis, Sátanam aliósque spíritus malígnos, qui ad perditiónem animárum pervagántur in múndo, divína virtúte, in inférnum detrúde. Ámen
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, oh Prince of the Heavenly Host,  by the power of God, thrust down into hell Satan and all evil spirits, who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

...St. Michael gives me courage and guides me. Whenever I'm having troubles, I call on him for help. The pain doesn't go away but I am given the strength to fight. Thank you, my Angel, for being with me in this tough life.

[Review] Snoe Hair Heroes "Intense" PM Repair Argan Oil

Best Blogger Tips
I am in search for products that reacts well with my dry and curly hair. So the second one on my list is Snoe Hair Heroes "Intense" PM Repair Argan Oil. Actually, I had no plans of buying it. I was just passing by the Snoe store in Landmark, remembered my friend Helen who likes it, and paused for a while to take a look. However, the SA was so kind to me that I was encouraged to buy. LOL! Never underestimate the power of good customer service!

I have heard raves about Snoe products. Since I was specifically looking for hair care, I chose to get the "Intense" PM Repair Argan Oil. Priced at PhP249.00, I find it expensive for a 50mL bottle. But I know that Argan Oil is already pricey, so I guess the tag is justified.

Snoe Hair Heroes "Intense" PM Repair Argan Oil. PhP 249.00
It has Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil, both known for their intensive moisturizing capability. Argan Oil is gaining popularity for hair care, so my expectations were high when I got this product.

Product description at the back.
The product is a colorless oil. I can't literally describe the smell because it is not flowery, citrusy, or any other familiar scent, but it is of good fragrance. Maybe the dominant smell is that of Argan Oil.

Snoe "Intense" PM Repair Argan Oil on my hand.
I followed instructions and used this solely at night. Being in a spray bottle, I need to spritz it either on my hand first or directly at my hair. The result of this product is not readily seen, but it is rather felt. Instantly, it has that softening effect. For someone who has dry hair like me, that is an outstanding result already!

Other than the existing problem of my dry hair, I am also suffering from dandruff. I am currently using a very strong anti-dandruff shampoo. And yes, it does make my dry hair even more drier. But... I'm so happy that I have the "Intense" PM Repair Argan Oil. It quickly softens and moisturizes my hair in no time! So there goes the answer as to why "Intense" is quoted.

True, it is "Intense".
Overall, I am very happy with this product, but I still find it too pricey.  I don't regret buying this one. Expensive yes, but it delivers. I guess it's time for me to splurge on my hair as much as I do with my skin. I heard the sister of this product, the 5-in-1 Intense Argan Oil Cleansing Conditioner (PhP499.00), is good too. So, should I get it?

I Have Accepted A Liebster Blog Award

Best Blogger Tips
Majorie of Lace and Leather nominated me for a Liebster Blog Award! Yay! I'm so happy! Liebster is a German word which means (as a noun) "Beloved Person", (or as an adjective) "sweet or very much liked". Thank you dear Majorie, for this gift and recognizing my blog! (^_^)

The rules of this award:
1. The nomination is the award itself.
2. Link back the person/blogger who nominated you.
3. Answer the ten (10) questions provided by the blogger who nominated you.
4. Pick ten (10) bloggers who have less than 200 followers to be nominated for the award.
5. Provide ten (10) questions for your nominees to answer.
6. Visit your nominees' blogs and tell them that they have been nominated.

So let us have a short Q&A, courtesy of Majorie

1. What is something that maybe not everyone knows about you?
I really don't like Mathematics. But despite the headaches and problems (pun intended) it gave me in my entire school life, I still fell in love with a Math guy... (shhh... It's a secret)

2. What is your favorite makeup product? Why?
It would definitely be the Baby Choux Base from Etude House! I love how it gives my face that porcelain-doll-like glow! It also keeps my makeup on for a long time!

3. What was the weirdest dream you have ever had?
Uhm... I really don't remember my dreams when I wake up. So sorry...(T_T)

4. What is your favorite song at the moment?
Only You by Rain! The sweet rhythm and cool lyrics always puts a smile on my face! Man, those hips!

5. When was the last time you cried?
If I can remember correctly, I cried when I watched Les Miserables, with my fellow bloggers. The story was so touching, tears fell down my cheeks from the start till the end.

6. Which do you prefer; skirts, pants or shorts?
Pants. I am the commuter type, so pants give me the utmost comfort while traveling.

7. If you could be somebody else for a day, who would you like to be?
Wow! This question feels like Miss Universe! LOL! Well.... hmmm... I would still prefer to be myself. But I would lose Miss Universe if I answer that. LOL! So yeah... That someone would be Rain. I can't think of any other person whose life and character is very inspiring to me. His way of life is what I would like to experience even just for one day.

8. What do you usually order from Starbucks?
I so love this question! Starbucks is the place to be when I need me-time! LOL! During ordinary season, I order Java Chip Frappuccino. But my favorite is available only during Christmas time, and the name is Toffee Nut Frappuccino! Yum!

9. If you could watch only one TV show for the rest of your life, what TV show would you choose?
Oh Wow! It would be Fugitive Plan B! It is an action K-drama. And of course, I would love to see JiWoo on screen over and over and over.... LOL! His character is so funny and witty, definitely my kind of guy.

10. You just got a free plane ticket to anywhere. You have to depart right now. Where are you gonna go?
Wha? Just one ticket? I would love to go to Korea, Japan, and Singapore! But since I only got one plane ticket... I would choose to be in... Japan! Akihabara District here I go!
Akihabara. Photo by Kawaii Otaku
Phew! It took me more than an hour to answer these questions. I guess writing about myself is more difficult than I thought. So, lemme pass the Liebster Blog Award to...

Ready For Anything!

Best Blogger Tips

When I saw that^ ad from Sample Room, I got excited and curious about this new line of skin care from Shiseido. Aptly called 'Ibuki', It claims to strengthen skin against various elements. Hence this line is tagged to give you, "Ready for Anything Skin".

So for days I was on the look out for the release of samples in the website. A hot product like this require some fast ninja skills for you to be able to grab a sample. I miss the first wave of Ibuki samples last Friday, but thankfully, Sample Room restocked when nighttime came. Yay! Earlier today, the package arrived! Wheee~~~ I got that feeling of excitement... that emotion of opening a gift!

I got the Softening Concentrate, Protective Moisturizer, and the Refining Moisturizer. Well, I really didn't choose them, I clicked on what was available at that time! Better grab those samples quick before they're gone! LOL! For this haul, Sample Room gave out two 2mL sachets of each.

Do You Have A World Cosplay Account?

Best Blogger Tips
I have heard of http://worldcosplay.net/ before but at first, I didn't give a thought of creating an account there. It's because my cosplays are still unsatisfactory and still needs a lot of work. But what made me change my mind?

Well, I received some coscards last Fantasy Quest. Those cards were cute and catchy! I know making some costs a lot.

Coscards from cosplayers

I wanted to give back to these cosplayers by following them in Facebook, Twitter, blog, or in... World Cosplay!

The homepage of http://worldcosplay.net/
So it all started from there! I visited the website and created an account. And hey! It is a good site to see new photos of cosplayers from different countries! Seeing other people cosplay makes me happy. The photos I saw are enough for you to be inspired in your next projects!

Here is a photo of one of my favorite cosplayers, Reika (visit her page here: http://worldcosplay.net/member/87/). In World Cosplay, you can follow her and rate her photo by clicking on the heart symbol. See... This is what I like about this website, you can only "like" and you can't comment on the photos. Everything is for the eyes only.

Reika's photo on World Cosplay
This website opened my eyes to more undiscovered realms of the beauty of cosplay, especially on the international scene. It solely focused on cosplay alone, so keeping track of the latest trends becomes easy. Who is the most popular character out there? What anime did he/she come from? It's all in World Cosplay.

So do you have a World Cosplay account, too? Yes? Yay! Follow me and I'll follow you back~~!  (^_^)

[Review] OTJ: On The Job

Best Blogger Tips
Synopsis:

The cycle of life and death and scheming at its highest level are on full display in ON THE JOB, a gritty crime thriller that delves deep into the inner-workings of the ingenious hitmen, honest cops, ambitious federal agents, and shady government officials. The film is based on the true scandal that rocked the Philippines where prison inmates were contracted by high-level politicians to temporarily leave jail and conduct a series of assassinations before returning to incarceration.

When I read that movie synopsis at the cinema entrance, I said right away, "This movie is worth a shot!" With a unique plot like that, who can refuse?

On The Job is an action-crime indie film directed by Erik Matti.  From start to end, it gave a vivid representation of our daily news. It showed the reality of Philippine streets where crimes and vices seem normal. It was a world where the good struggle over the empowering evil.

The story revolves around Tatang (Joel Torre) and his apprentice Daniel (Gerald Anderson), their job is to do the dirty work. Through their eyes you will see how these kind of people become heartless, that everything has a reason and a story.

Joel Torre as Tatang
Then there are the good guys, dedicated police officers Sgt. Acosta (Joey Marquez) and NBI agent Atty. Francis Coronel (Piolo Pascual) were on the hunt to capture these assassins, and most importantly, the masterminds. But is there a place for the good?

Crimes, drugs, vulgar language, cruel and heartless killers... these are but the things that we see on TV everyday. The movie does not sugar coat things nor exaggerates it. It presented reality as raw as it is. All the more, it was about people who do not have any compassion, from the educated politicians to the illiterate assassins. The movie showed how taking a life can be so simple and casual.

The movie has good cinematograpy. The camera angles were placed so to show the actors's emotions with underlying elements (like lights, smoke, or rain) to highlight it. The sound effects are great! It was always in perfect timing to what was shown on screen. The music genre varied from rock to instrumental. One more thing that I admired is how the film showed how our government offices, hospitals, and streets look like for real! No unrealistic sci-fi special effects here, just purely good camera work. The beauty of this film is seen in its simplicity!

The film showed the streets of Manila as it is.
The actors did excellently! All of them! Each one delivers emotions of struggle, fear, hatred, and dilemma with convincing power! I give two thumbs up to Joel Torre who has the most outstanding performance in this film. The movie won't take you to an emotional roller coaster ride. But rather, it will stimulate you intellectually.

Though it did not appeal to the Filipino masses, it is a good film with a surprising twist in the ending. While it may not be your typical romance/triangle relationships type of story, it is an underrated action film of social relevance.

As Filipinos, every part of this movie is relatable to you and me. Spare 121 minutes of your time and go watch this film!

When I Met Jin Joson

Best Blogger Tips
"It's Jin Joson!", I overheard one of the cosplayers say softly. I quickly turned my head and scanned across the crowd to find her, only to see that she was just a few yards in front of me!

Then I looked at her, this person who I only saw in pictures! I couldn't help but to admire her cosplay craft more! I'll be honest, it was about a year ago when I knew of Jin Joson. She cosplayed Naruto so well that I thought she was a guy.

Jin Joson as Naruto
Then I saw photos of her cosplaying female characters, too!

Jin Joson as Alice
What impeccable skill to cosplay both male and female characters! It was then that she got my admiration.

I always waited for the opportunity to see her! There were local events that I attended, and it turned out that she was there, as well. Fate never let us meet. Until...

...Fantasy Quest 3! The simple and interactive environment gave me the best opportunity to finally see the person called Jin Joson! I was speechless and I got so makulit! I talked to her with what a few words like, 'Can you sign?' and 'May i have a picture with you?' LOL!

I let her sign my copy of Cosplay Snapshot Project X photobook...

Jin signed my copy of a photobook. Yay!
I also took pics with her (I would like to also say 'Thank you' to her friend who took this photo for me)...

Me with Jin Joson
In my excitement, I forgot to take a solo shot of her in character or ask for her coscard! (>_<) Oh! I need to remember that next time!

She is a very beautiful and nice person. When you see her, you will be encouraged to cosplay, too. There may be international cosplayers out there who are famed, but I still root for her. And if people ask me who is best cosplayer, I would answer proudly, "It's Jin Joson!"

[Review] Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base from Etude House

Best Blogger Tips
I have have been learning and exploring about makeup ever since I started cosplaying. The world of makeup is so vast! Colors, shades, hues, skin type... Who knew it would be so complicated! However, I like the little discoveries I make in every step. Slow, yes, but I am getting there.

After attending beauty workshops, I leaned about makeup bases or primers. It claims to make your skin flawless-looking and keeps your makeup in place. Popular cosplayers raved about primers in their blogs, too. So I thought, "Why not just try it out, then?"

Since I like Korean cosmetics, the store that came to mind as I hunt for makeup bases is Etude House. When I went there, the SA happily assisted me. When I asked for a primer that would go best with my oily face and skin color, she recommended that I have the Baby Choux Base in Berry (#02). I trusted her without questions and bought one right away!

Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base in Berry (PhP628.00)
Ah~ So you've noticed that the packaging is so cute, eh? Yep! It does not only look good, it smells good, too! The scent is more like a mixture of fruits, berries and sweet candy. Yum! But oh, don't eat it!

The product comes in the form of a cream.
The product comes in cream form. I find that it easily spreads on the skin, too. Take note: only a small amount is needed on application. When I used this for the first time, I took about a centimeter of cream. As a result, I ended up white-faced and I had to wipe the excess cream with a tissue paper. LOL!

You only need a tiny amount of cream for your face.
The product blended well with my skin! After spreading, it looked invisible but I could feel it covering my face. Here are a few swatches:

Upon application: cream is all opaque.

Tadah! It disappeared and made my skin lighter!
While using this Baby Choux Base, I noticed that I didn't need to put on a lot of foundation for coverage. This product already corrected my skin's imperfections first hand. Also, makeup application became so easy! The colors stuck easily to my face and it stayed there for a long time.

It gave me an extra blush. Researching about it online, I found out that Berry Choux goes well for pale skin because it enhances color. In truth, it gave me that doll-like glow. It seems that I have found the secret to cosplayers' flawless look, then. They were right, primers really work like magic!

When worn... see the doll-like glow.
I have oily skin but with this product, my face didn't look shiny after 2 hours. Or even afterwards, the shine wasn't as offensive as before. Plus, the makeup colors were still there, unlike without a makeup base.

Baby Choux Base is a great product from Etude House! I will definitely buy another once this runs out. Since only a small amount is needed for each application, I know that one jar will last for a long time! Talk about value for money! This is one piece of magic that will definitely be part of my makeup routine from now on!
