Friday Night with Bellas

Best Blogger Tips
Sorry for this very late post, everyone. Life has gotten quite complicated and I am now in argument with this thing called time. As you grow older, it seems to get out of your hands. I am struggling to manage it and to stop myself from saying, "I don't have time."

Speaking of time, I now have work during Saturdays (BOO!), so I miss hanging out with my fellow Bellas. When Belle de Jour Power Planner announced of an event and it was scheduled on a Friday night, I said, "Yes! Finally! Time to bond with them again!"

Without second thoughts, I signed up for the BDJ Passion Series: Shake, Pour, and Serve! It was held on June 14, 2013 in TGI Friday's Glorietta and the topic was about cocktail mixing and flair bartending. It's in perfect timing, too! 'Cause I like cocktail drinks and the creativity in mixing and looks that come with it!

All about Shake, Pour, and Serve! ... with Marilyn Monroe on the side.

My BDJ wristband for the event!
I met familiar faces of Bellas! We took lots of photos of  the place (and ourselves!) before we settled down for dinner. I shared the table with Eca, Gee, and Lea.

With Bellas: Eca, Gee, and Lea. :)
Before everything else, we had dinner, while being treated to a bartending show of TGI Friday's Stars Behind the Bar!

Caesar Salad, rice, Spicy New Orleans, Pork Liempo, Brownie, and unlimitied Iced Tea.
Here are a few photos of the performance of Stars Behind the Bar! They are the best bartenders of TGI Fridays from different branches. My crush is the one from TriNoma. Hihihi...

Here are a few snapshots I took of the performance. I'm sorry if some are blurred. My cellphone camera can't quite capture motions in crisp detail. Yep, it's one of the lessons I learned that night.

Yes, they throw bottles in the air!
Yep, they got everyone's attention! :)
They gave out the drinks they concocted during the show! For free! Yay! We got this really strong drink which made my head spin after just a sip. I don't know the name though. Love the colors!

After dinner, they called in participants for the cocktail mixing workshop! I happily volunteered for the Strawberry Margarita. I picked that slot because I like strawberries, even though I haven't tried margarita yet.

Starting out with some basic instructions... Photo by Eca

Whoops, here I am trying out a pour! Photo by Eca

Concocting this drink is hard. Like, we were required to toss liquids in air and then catch it! The host told us that it can stain clothes! I was very careful to not let it get near my shirt! Noooo! Not on my favorite Rainthetreasure shirt!

Showing us how to toss it the right way! Photo taken from the BDJ FB Page
I also learned that Margarita is an ice blended drink! Ooh! I knew I would love this drink after I hearing that! Sorry guys, but I can't remember the recipe in detail, and some ingredients were unfamiliar to me.

Bartenders have this term, Exactopour, which means that the drink made will fit the glass right up to the brim with no spillage. Hmmm... when I tried it with my work...

Yay! So happy to finish my drink! Photo from BDJ FB Page.
My work of art: Strawberry Margarita!
I guess some liquids got thrown out after all that unsuccessful tossing! LOL! So there, my Strawberry Margarita with sugar on the glass!

You know, when I cook or make drinks that I am not sure of, I really doubt the quality of it. But this time, when I tried my Margarita, I was surprised that it actually tasted good! Wow! I can't believe it! I'm so proud! The bartenders were good teachers!

Would you like to try my Strawberry Margarita? Photo courtesy of Gee.
What a fun night of learning (and drinking)! I got to spend time with Bellas, too! I miss you so much, soul sisters!

My loot! :)

The Kiehl's Change Your Skin Challenge

Best Blogger Tips
When I saw the post in Kiehl's Manila Facebook page about the Change Your Skin Challenge, and the chance to take home five full sized products, I went to the nearest store right away! I love joining contests and this one fits in! Besides, I got interested in Kiehl's products ever since I tried their BB Cream

The poster. Taken from Kiehl's Manila FB page.
I visited the Kiehl's branch in Greenbelt 5. I had trouble finding the place because the mall is a maze! When I saw the familiar skeleton in lab gown, I knew it was the Kiehl's store! The customer representatives were very nice. It was Gladys who accommodated me. She was very kind.

She got some sheets which according to her, would determine the type of skin that I have. The number of dots on the gray circle would tell. Here is mine: I have normal to oily on my forehead and cheeks.

My skin as determine by these amazing sheets!
Knowing my skin type, Gladys happily introduced me to Kiehl's products dedicated to oily skin and large pores. She told me about the Rare Earth line and the Ultra Facial Oil-Free line.

I shared to her that the Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion reacted too harshly on my skin. So she suggested that the Ultra-Facial Oil Free line, which is gentler. Because of that, she gave me entire samples of the line!

The entire Ultra Facial line.
Gladys also noticed that I have small pimples and a few zits on my face. So she gave me Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin Clearing Treatment and Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque. Gladys reiterated to only use pea sized amounts on these.

Plus two more samples for skin care.
I still have one more week to go until the deadline. I do trust Gladys on this and I hope the effects will be visible before July 1.

My Kiehl's samples. :)
Have you taken the Kiehl's Change Your Skin Challenge, too? If not, try visiting a store and ask a Kiehl's Sales Rep for it! They'd be more that happy to accommodate you, just like how Gladys did to me. :)

Toy Con 2013 Cosplayers

Best Blogger Tips
This year's Toy Con, on June 14-16, was held in SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 1, 2, and 3. I was only able to attend Day 3, Sunday. It was my only free time and I'm so happy that most of my friends went on this day, too.

The 2013 Toy Con ticket
The place was packed and I had no space to take photos of the venue, the stage, and the booths present. So, I decided to let my battery drain on cosplayers. And I'm happy I did!

I went as Rei Ayanami for this event.
Me as Rei. Photo taken by Reeve using my camera. :)
Yay! My friend Lot took candid shots of me behind the scenes! The photo below is my favorite! Thanks, girl! :)

And... *drum roll* my favorite cosplayer of the day is.... *drum roll*... my good friend Reeve Felix Castillo who portrayed Roxas (XIII version) from Kingdom Hearts!

Reeve as Roxas of Kingdom Hearts
What great stance! The costume, the hair, and the weapon are accurate! To top it off, Reeve gave out that smile which somewhat says, "Come on! I'm ready for battle!". He improved a lot on his cosplaying skills and I say that this is one of his best characters ever!

So how do I rate this year's Toy Con? Hmmm... well, it wasn't as good as last year. I already saw the same toys and the crowd was unbearable! Hey! I heard next year's Toy Con will be held in SMX! Now that kept my hopes up for a better event next time!
