My Playlist

Best Blogger Tips
My taste for music spans a lot of genre! I like Pop, Rock, Alternative, K-pop, J-pop, and RnB. What makes me like the song is the lyrics foremost, and rhythm would be next. I am not really a music junkie. I can't even sing! But I turn to music to make me relax whenever I'm stressed out. It also makes me forget time.

As of the moment, my playlist involves a lot of K-Pop songs, thanks to Rain for that matter. There are also Filipino, English and Japanese songs. When I play music, I really pay attention to it. I listen to the rhythm, the tempo, the artist's voice, and the overall emotions of the song. That was how my music critique self was born! It's been a long time since I posted an album review.

My playlist for the moment is as shown below. I usually put it on shuffle so this is not ranked according to how I like the music. Credits of the YouTube videos that I embedded goes to their respective owners.

1. My Way by Rain -This is the only song which made me cry. You know that I posted this video for the third time already. ^_^

2. This I Promise You by N'Sync -Reminds me of assurance and security from a person.

3. 1/3 No Junjou Na Kanjou (1/3 of My Pure Emotions) by Siam Shade -My otaku side always comes out whenever I listen to anime OST.

4. Stellar by Incubus -This has gotta be my favorite love song of all time!

5. All I That I Need by Boyzone -A song from my favorite boy band in the 90's! I am still not over Ronan Keating, I tell you!

6. Slowly by Rain -This song has been tagged by fans as "The Hottest Song from the Hottest Man"... and I couldn't agree more!

7. Be My Girl by JYJ -I find this song sweet and endearing. It gives me shivers every time!

8. Fly Me to the Moon (Aya Bossa Techno Version) -I had my cosplay of Rei Ayanami just recently. Song taken from the Neon Genesis Evangelion OST. I listen to this whenever I need help being in character. This is a cute song, a techno version from the original rendition of Frank Sinatra.

9. Mirotic by DBSK -This makes me nostalgic and brings me memories of my little sister. This was the first K-Pop video that I saw... back at the time when I didn't know the names of the members of DBSK.

10. Rainism by Rain -Listen to this song and you won't forget Rain and his magic stick!

11. A Thousand Years by Christina Perri -I love this Twilight song! This has even been used in actual weddings, just like the one I recently attended.

12. Love Song by Rain -Well, other than the nice rhythm, I like this better because of Rain's sexy dance moves!

13. What Make You Beautiful by One Direction -Every girl should listen to this! The song and the music makes me feel beautiful, too!

14. Kung Ako Na Lang Sana by Bituin Escalante -My favorite OPM love song ever!  Reminds me of my high school life. Ah crush, you never looked at me!

15. Only You by Rain -This has got me hooked! There was a time when I played this one on repeat! The rhythm and the overall composition is beautiful that I made this my starting and ending song after each listening session!

Phew! It's only fifteen songs but the music and the messages is entirely different from each other. From following your dream, love songs, to heartbreaking songs... this just proves that music can break language barriers!

One piece of advice though, I won't recommend having Filipino, English, Japanese, and Korean songs in one playlist, especially if it's on shuffle. Your brain gets surprised from the sudden shift of language. LOL! However, my hard-headed self still continues on. I love these songs and I am keeping them in my music player!

Grips Hair Styling Products by SkinTec

Best Blogger Tips
With the rise of hip and cool hairstyles to improve your self-image, it is important to choose products that provide not only quality but also nourishment to your hair. SkinTec Advance Inc. developed  Grips hair styling products specifically made not only to style, but to also care for the hair. It is available in three forms: gel, clay, and wax. Just chose your preference, depending on your purpose and hair type.

Based on my experience, gels are best used on setting curls. Good thing the loot bag from SkinTec also included Grips Hair Gel. Whenever I curl my hair, I apply gel to fix it. I also use it to prevent frizz. So far, the product has performed well. It dries up a few minutes after application and it holds my hair in place instantly, may it be wet or dry. It smells good too! I can't tell which exactly, but the scent is one of those candies in my childhood: sweet and refreshing. Plus, Grips Hair Gel is formulated with D-Panthenol to moisturize your hair.

Grips Hair Gel.
Grips Hair Gel is available in Strong Hold, Strong Hold with Aloe Vera, and Extra Strong Hold. Prices, as of writing, are PhP 11.55 for a 50 gram bottle and PhP20.90 for a 130 gram bottle. Sachets (12 pieces) at 14 grams is available at PhP15.90. Let me say this: it is unbelievably cheap but the performance is of quality.

Next in the Grips line is Clay FX. Hair Clay is used when you prefer not to have that wet-look that hair waxes do. It is matte when applied and the hold is strong. Fans of Daniel Padilla know that this is what he uses to have that cool hairstyle on TV.

Grips Clay FX is easily applied on the hair. The color of the product is light gray. The smell is also similar to the candy-like scent of Grips Hair Gel. Furthermore, this hair clay has the EasyWash formula. With that, it can be easily rinsed off from your hair, unlike other hair clay brands out there. It also sa Pro-Vitamin B5 to keep the hair healthy. This is already a premium product from SkinTec!

Grips Hair Clay FX.
Grips Hair Clay FX is available in 75 gram jar (PhP 86.90) and in 5 gram sachets (PhP4.35 per piece).

Lastly, we have Grips Hair Wax. I let my straight-haired male colleagues to try this out and they have positive feedback about it. The product worked well in achieving those K-pop or spiky hairstyles. The smell is similar to a hair conditioner. The hold lasts until you wash it. Take note, hair waxes and hair clay need to be washed with shampoo to remove it. I got to say, the effects of hair wax are more visible and works better with short straight hair. This product is also formulated with Pro-Vitamin B5 to nourish your hair.

Grips Hair Wax.
Grips Hair Wax is available in three variants: Hard and Shiny (75 gram jar: PhP 81.75, 5 gram sachet: PhP 3.40), Xtreme Hard and Mat (75 gram jar: PhP 85.00, 5 gram sachet: PhP 3.63), and Hard and Mat (75 gram jar: PhP 81.75, 5 gram sachet: PhP 3.40).

Sachets of Grips Hair Wax.
I, on the other hand, have just discovered another use for Grips Hair Wax. I asked my fellow cosplayer friends on what they use to fix and hold the wig to get the edgy anime-look. Their answer: hair wax. I wouldn't believe it at first, until I saw some of them actually use it. Other cosplayers have high-quality wigs and putting wax on it was okay. They said that it won't damage the wig. Further, they told me not to use clay or gel on wigs as these may destroy it.

Me, with my medium-quality wig, still tried the effect of hair wax on it. I used the Hard and Shiny variant of Grips Hair Wax. I only put little amount on the bangs to create that anime-look. Oops, I forgot to ask my friends on how to wash the wig afterwards. Anyway, I will observe the long term effects on my wig and I will update you.

Grips gives you the ease of styling your hair (and wig!), while nourishing it at the same time. It is available in affordable prices, too! Being confident has just been made easier with Grips!

Be as confident as Daniel Padilla.
Grips and other products by SkinTec are available in Puregold Supermarket, Robinsons Supermarket, Shopwise, Rustan's Supermarket, and in other leading supermarkets and drugstores nationwide.

Otaku Expo 2013 -Cosplayers and Toys

Best Blogger Tips
Otaku Expo 2013 was the first event that I attended for the year 2013. It was held last January 26, 2013 in SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 1. Though a fateful day for us cosplayers, I still consider this event a success.

My Otaku Expo ticket.
I am still thankful for this day because I was finally able to debut my Rei Ayanami cosplay. She is my second character in my cosplay portfolio. Rei is a character from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion

Me as Rei Ayanami. Photo by Reeve Castillo.
The event had the usual booths: merchant booths, food kiosks, and gaming booths. My favorite one is the toy display area by Team Onii-chan!. Here are a few photos:

The figure toy display.

Yay! I also found a Rei Ayanami figure!

Now this! I like Linkin Park

Asuka Langley Soryu of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Despite what happened, I was able to spent some time with my cosplayer friends, had a short photo shoot, and met new people who never fail to impress me with their creativity. Here are my photos of cosplayers:

Cosplayer Reeve Castillo as Fushimi of Project K.

Cosplayer Knievel Rosaroso as Naruto of Naruto Shippuden.

...as Neko of Project K.

....as Hatsune Miku.

....as Cloud Strife.

....as Lili of Tekken.

...as Kyo Kusanagi of King of Fighters.

Cosplay is not just for anime. This guy came in as Zayn Malik of One Direction!

...as Kakashi of Naruto Shippuden.

...as Noctis Lucis Caelum of Final Fantasy.

...as Mario Brothers.

Cosplayer Kristell Lim as Ada Wong.

....as Sakura Haruno of Naruto.

My favorite cosplayer of the day is Jerome Velarde as Vega of Street Fighter. His costume is very detailed and he poses well! The sculpt of his body is close to the character of Vega, as well.

I love cosplay and this makes me see the positive side of yesterday. This hobby will always be a source of inspiration to me, no matter how many people try to spread malicious information involving it. If needed, I will become as strong as the characters I cosplay to defend it.
